Austin Reaves' asking price may have gotten a little more expensive all of a sudden. The former undrafted free agent is reportedly set to opt out of the final year of his contract after this season. And after watch him put up a career-best 51 points without Luka Doncic and LeBron James, several team could be keeping tabs on him. With that in mind, Josiah Johnson asked former Golden State Warriors star Gilbert Arenas whether he could see Reaves ending up with the San Antonio Spurs, since they will have some cap space available next season. Arenas, however, doesn't see that happening:"That would be a bad deal for the Spurs," Arenas told Johnson. "What makes Austin's name top tier is because he's in a Lakers uniform. Right? So, when you're talking about the value of that $150 million, the value is here because you can make it up with jersey sales, marketing, you can put him on billboards, you can do all of that."Of course, that's not to say that he wouldn't pay Reaves that type of money. If anything, he believes the Lakers need to find a way to meet his asking price and pay what he wants:"I’d pay Reaves $140-150M to keep him," Arenas wrote on Threads. "I wasn't in my head thinking, 'You got to go score 50.' It was, 'Do whatever you can do to help the team win.'"Reaves shot 12 of 22 from the floor and 21 of 22 from the free-throw line, adding eleven rebounds, nine assists, six three-pointers, and two steals in the 127-120 road win.And with LeBron James also out with a sciatica injury, he might be in for another explosion on Monday against the Portland Trail Blazers.
