LA Lakers rookie Adou Thiero has been cleared to play since Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans. Thiero was not able to make his debut there, but he got another opportunity on Saturday in the matchup versus the Milwaukee Bucks at the Fiserv Forum.

The Lakers' injury report included a few notable players, such as LeBron James, Marcus Smart and Rui Hachimura. The absence of Smart and Hachimura could open up minutes for several youngsters, with Bronny James already named as a starter.

Thiero was unable to play for the Lakers in the Summer League and preseason because of a knee injury. He underwent surgery to correct a hyperextended left knee, an injury he suffered while he was still playing for the Arkansas Razorbacks last season.

Coach JJ Redick confirmed to reporters that Thiero will make his NBA debut against the Bucks. And Redick fulfilled his promise, inserting the rookie at the 1:48 mark of the first quarter. He replaced Jake LaRavia, who was given a breather after starting the contest.

Adou Thiero finished the first quarter, but he was stuck on the bench for nearly the rest of the game. Thiero returned to the court with just 2:53 left in the fourth quarter as both coaches emptied their bench with the score at 110-88.

The rookie scored his first basket at the 1:21 mark, making his first free throw after getting fouled by Andre Jackson Jr. He also made his second bonus shot before following it up with his first field goal.

It happened on a fastbreak after Bronny James stole the ball. He made a bounce pass to Thiero, who flushed it down with two hands. Jackson tried to block the shot from behind, but it ended up being a poster instead. LA Lakers players lost it on the bench, celebrating the rookie's first dunk in the NBA.

Here are Adou Thiero's stats for the game.

After the LA Lakers earned the easy 119-95 win, they wanted to game the official game ball and give it to Adou Thiero to commemorate his NBA debut. However, the referees weren't budging and didn't allow them to have the ball. The referee ended up giving it to a Milwaukee Bucks staffer.

Several Lakers players approached the staffer, but she also declined their request. Giannis Antetokounmpo came in to save the day, getting the ball from the staffer and gave it to Luka Doncic. The official NBA rules give the control of the game balls to the home teams.
