Despite all the success he has enjoyed this postseason, Blake Snell has struggled against the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series.
Taking the mound for the reigning champions in Game 1, Snell gave up five earned runs in five innings. He did not fare much better in his latest start, conceding five runs in 6.2 innings in Game 5 on Wednesday.
After the game, Blake Snell reflected on the rough outing, saying "luck" had contributed to his opponents' success.
"They didn't really get to me... Luck plays in baseball," Snell said.
Snell's comments did not sit well with fans on X.
"There’s your answer for why Posey didn’t re-sign him," a fan wrote.
"'I'm not one to make excuses or anything close to that' says someone making excuses for getting taken out of the park twice in his first three pitches," another fan commented.
"He is acting like a 10-year-old got lucky and beat him in WarZone," another fan replied.
"5 ER, 2 HR 'didn’t really get to me.' 🤣" another fan responded.
"The strike zone being the same size since 1996 is also unlucky and resulted him in walking 4 guys in 6 innings," another fan shared.
"Which was the unlucky part, the 2 HRs, the 3 WP's or the 4 walks?" another fan posted.
Blake Snell will get his chance to face the Blue Jays again if the Dodgers survive Game 6
Blake Snell's World Series so far has not gone to plan, but the 32-year-old may still get the chance to have the last laugh against the AL champions. In order to do so, however, the Dodgers must first avoid defeat in Game 6 at the Rogers Centre on Friday.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto will take the mound for the Dodgers, while Kevin Gausman makes the start for the Blue Jays.
