Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper was involved in an altercation with MLB commissioner Rob Manfred after he reportedly discussed a salary cap during a meeting in the Phillies clubhouse in July. However, Bryce Harper's reaction summed up the player's opinion on a potential salary cap. The MLBPA have been against the salary cap for decades and the last time MLB tired to enforce the cap, it resulted in a players strike that canceled the 1994 World Series and delayed the start of the 1995 season. The strike lasted for 232 days and any potential salary cap implementation in 2027 could lead to a similar lockout. The latest allegations against Manfred's camp isn't going to make the negotiations any easier for MLB.
