Yankees legend Mark Teixeira takes aim at Joe Biden administration, sides with Donald Trump's policies

Mark Teixeira enjoyed plenty of success at the highest level of baseball, following which he has forayed into politics.

On Monday's edition of "Rob Schmitt Tonight" on NewsMax, Teixeira, who retired in 2016, commended Donald Trump's "American-first" policies, while criticizing former President Joe Biden's governance.

"The last four years, I really started getting serious, because we were close to losing our country," Teixeira said. "You look at open borders, you look at dangerous streets, you look at a Democratic Party that is pushing us towards socialism. I, for one, don't want to live in that type of country, and I (don't) want my kids and my grand-kids to live in that type of country.

"So, it takes American-first conservative policies to bring our country back, and that's exactly what President Trump is doing, and I hope I can join his team to get America back to where we belong, which is prosperous, free and safe."

Teixeira made his big league debut in April 2003 and represented some of the sport's biggest franchises, such as the Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves, LA Angels and New York Yankees in a career that spanned 13 years. His trophy cabinet includes a World Series ring, three All-Star selections, five Gold Gloves and three Silver Slugger awards.

Back in August, Mark Teixeira announced his plans to run for Congress in Texas as a Republican for the 21st Congressional District. In a statement he posted to X, Teixeira made his allegiance with President Donald Trump clear.

"Big news: I’m ready to go! As a lifelong conservative who loves this country, I’m running for Congress to fight for the principles that make Texas and America great," Teixeira posted. "It takes teamwork to win – I’m ready to help defend President Trump’s America First agenda."

Teixeira announced his campaign was going to emphasize "fighting for Texas families and individual liberty."
