Chris Bassit's three-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays has ended. An emotional Bassit hand expressed interest in playing for the Blue Jays after the loss in Game 7 of the World Series. However, whether the team re-signs the 37-year-old pitcher remains to be seen.

Bassit joined the Blue Jays in December 2022, signing a three-year, $63 million contract (according to ESPN). He was the American League wins leader in his debut season in Toronto.

Amid rumors linking Bassit to multiple MLB teams, his wife, Jessica, shared a multisnap Instagram post on Wednesday. While the cover image was that of the couple, the post mostly featured a group snap of Jessica with the wives and girlfriends of Blue Jays players.

"How lucky are we? How blessed are we?". Those are two questions I have asked myself since the wheels took off of the runway in Toronto to come home. Did things end the way we wanted it to? No. But we gained something far more than a title. We were fortunate enough to be on the 2025 Toronto Blue Jays team," she wrote in the caption.

Jessica said that the team shook Canada to its core and made people fall in love with baseball again, bringing an entire country together.

"We laughed together, we cried together, we went on a month long rollercoaster bender together. We loved one another and truly enjoyed being around one another. I have never experienced anything like it in baseball - everyone coming together and supporting each other and families molded together by one common love, baseball," she added.

Jessica said that she doesn't see the Blue Jays' World Series heartbreak as a loss, but rather the showing of grit, determination and companionship. She said the journey was stressful, particularly on the children, but praised the women for being the glue that held everything together.

"I have a lot more to say, and maybe one of these days I will - about our Toronto Blue Jays story. But, for now, I will just say it was such an amazing privilege to be a part of this team, this organization, this ride, this moment for all of Canada," she concluded the message.
