Mookie Betts' World Series struggle continued in Game 5 against the Toronto Blue Jays. The LA Dodgers slugger faced rookie Trey Yesavage at the plate and the results have been no different.

Betts got struck out, adding to his misery in this World Series. Coming into this game, the Dodgers slugger is only hitting .158 in four games, leading to questions being raised.

If that was not enough, the shortstop made an error in the third inning. He made a wide throw to second baseman Tommy Edman, because of which the Dodgers couldn't convert the double play.

This has fans mocking the former MVP, who has been a shadow of himself this postseason.

"What's going on with Betts this series? He looks psychologically affected by his poor performance too," one fan commented.

"Shutting down a lineup with Mookie Betts at the end of an inning is no small feat. That 1-2-3 inning by Trey Yesavage shifted the momentum entirely. What a huge lift for the Blue Jays defense and the bullpen!" another fan added.
"Does Mookie Cheeks have money on the Jays," one fan asked.

"He should retire," another fan noted.
"He’s so f*cking trash now," one fan said.
"A high school infield completes that double play. The dodgers have no heart. Maybe an embarrassing loss in the series will wake them the F up for next year. Just trash," one fan wrote.

Mookie Betts demoted in Dodgers lineup

Mookie Betts' evident struggles at the plate finally met with an important decision. Manager Dave Roberts can't have Betts failing again and again since the Blue Jays are always going to walk Ohtani whenever there is a high-leverage situation. In such situations, if Betts is not able to make the damage, it's better to make the shift.

That's what Roberts did. He promoted catcher Will Smith up the order to hit behind leadoff hitter Ohtani. Meanwhile, Betts and Freddie Freeman took the drop. Apart from this, Roberts also removed Andy Pages from the lineup since he was struggling too. He brought in Alex Call in his place.

The early signs in Game 5 are showing that Betts' problems at the plate remain.
