Having taken over as the general manager of the New York Yankees in 1986, Brian Cashman has overseen four World Series wins during his time in charge so far.
On Sunday, the executive was honored with an induction into the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame. The Yankees took to X to post about Cashman's achievement.
"Congratulations to Yankees SVP & GM Brian Cashman on his induction to the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame today π" the post was captioned
Though his tenure as a whole can be seen as a success, more recent years have seen the Yankees struggle to recapture their former glory, atleast in terms of World Series titles.
As a result, Brian Cashman has not been the most popular figure amongst fans of late, and plenty of supporters left comments on the aforementioned post taking shots at the 58-year-old.
"For what???? We havenβt won since 2009!!!!" a fan wrote
"Itβs not April fools day" another fan commented
"You spelled Hall of Infamy wrong" another fan replied
"They just let anybody in there huh?" another fan responded
"Every member of this Hall of Fame just lost some credibility." another fan shared
"Does he have a secret second career that none of us is aware of? Because this certainly can't be based on his tenure with the Yankees which has been an utter failure." another fan posted
Contrary to popular opinion, Brian Cashman does not think the Yankees need a "rebuild" ahead of 2026
The Yankees endured an underwhelming season in 2025, failing to win the AL East, and crashing out of the playoffs in the ALDS. As a result, many fans felt that a rebuild may be in order in the offseason.
However, as general manager Brian Cashman revealed while speaking to insider Ian O'Connor of "The Athletic" in early November, he does not share the same opinion.
"I would recommend one (a rebuild) if it was warranted. Thereβs no indication that is something that should be considered. We have a farm system that is producing. We have quality major leaguers winning MVPs and potentially getting Cy Young Award votes, and we have the best record in the American League (tied with the Blue Jays), and we have Gerrit Cole coming back, along with other guys."
"I donβt understand how a rebuild could even be considered. I did do it once and we were very successful at rebuilding on the run. But thatβs not where todayβs roster sits." Cashman said

As the Bronx Bombers go all out to win it all once again in 2026, fans will hope the aging roster that Brian Cashman continues to trust can deliver in terms of results on the field.
