Veteran Toronto Blue Jays ace Shane Bieber and his wife, Kara Maxine, welcomed their first child earlier this year.
Kara gave birth to a baby boy, Kav McClain Bieber, in March. The birth of their first child was followed by the former Cy Young winner's move to the Blue Jays at the trade deadline.
The family of three moved to Toronto to start the next chapter of their life. In a Q&A session with fans on Instagram, the Blue Jays ace's wife shared the difficulties of moving around to cheer for her husband at different ballparks after the birth of their first child.
"So hard to balance being a new mom and moving around the way we did, pushed me in ways I can't really explain," Kara answered in her story. "There were hard days, but also so much growth. I'm honestly proud of myself and endlessly grateful for the nannies who helped us when Shane was on the road/ busy during the season in Cle+To. They truly kept me grounded.
"Because even when SB & I "travelled together," we were never really together - not on the same plane, not on the same schedule. But it made us stronger and my bond with Kav even deeper. Also, the family room + sitters with the BJs are amazing, so thankful for them.

Shane Bieber and Kara Maxine to remain in Toronto for another year after World Series heartbreak
Kara Maxine Bieber won't need to relocate anytime soon, as Shane Bieber exercised his 2026 player option to return to the Jays for next season. Although the former Cy Young winner was expected to take a $4 million contract buyout and walk into free agency, Bieber will spend one more year at $16 million with the Blue Jays.
“This group is unlike any other that I’ve been a part of,” Bieber said. “That’s a sentiment that we all kind of shared.”
Bieber was part of the Blue Jays rotation that pushed the Los Angeles Dodgers to the brink in the Fall Classic. However, the Blue Jays failed to win their first World Series title in more than three decades after the Dodgers clinched Game 7 in extra innings.
