However, Guerrero Jr.'s season ended with a heartbreaking 5-4 loss in Game 7 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Although the All-Star first baseman failed in his pursuit of a first World Series ring, he got a hero's welcome in the Dominican Republic.

Guerrero's wife, Nathalie, shared a glimpse of the parade in honor of the Blue Jays infielder, who signed a $500 million deal with the franchise earlier this year.

In one of the clips shared by his wife on Instagram, the ALCS MVP grooved to the music along with his friends and family during the parade.

The five-time All-Star was born in Montreal, Canada but moved to Santiago, Dominican Republic, with his mother. He spent the majority of his childhood in Santiago and Don Gregorio, where his uncle Wikton trained him in baseball.

While he had a remarkable postseason, Guerrero Jr. fell short against Athletics rookie Nick Kurtz in the Silver Slugger race. Kurtz, who had a breakout rookie season, slashed .290/.383/.619 with a 173 OPS+ and 36 home runs.

Kurtz became the first rookie first baseman to win the award since Jose Abreu in 2014. Kurtz is also believed to be the front-runner for the AL Rookie of the Year award.

Guerrero Jr. was looking for his second consecutive award, having won the Silver Slugger twice in his career.
