Fans believe Triston Casas was onto something before stopping midway in his honest reflection regarding the 2025 season, where the Red Sox finished with an 89-73 record before losing the wild card series against the New York Yankees.

On Tuesday, Casas posted a cryptic message on Instagram alongside a picture of an at-bat in Fenway Park. The first baseman hinted at normalizing tough conversations within the team if they ever want to come closer to winning the World Series. He wrote:

“If we’re gonna have any chance at something decent it’s stuff like this that needs to be addressed, I’m going to try to be as transparent as possible… within reason . No delusion , just normalizing the tough conversation.”

Fans reacted to Casas' honest reflection after the first baseman lost most of the season due to a left patellar tendon rupture in the spring.

"he froze right at the punchline," one fan wrote.

One fan thinks the first baseman will be traded soon after making this statement.

"Can’t wait til you get traded bro," one fan said.

Most fans were confused about what Casas was trying to imply with this caption.

"Did you hit “post” a little too soon because there’s a chunk of clarity still missing in the caption lol 😅" one fan wrote.
"Of all the words that have existed these sure are some of them," another commented.
"my love, WHAT does this mean" another fan posted.
"thank you riddle master i love you," one fan reacted.

Triston Casas' injury played a part in Rafael Devers' to Giants

Before the 2025 season, the Red Sox signed third baseman Alex Bregman to a three-year, $120 million contract. The decision wasn't received well within the team since they already had a third baseman in Rafael Devers, who was signed to a 10-year, $313.5 million contract.

Casas was among the players who still wanted Devers to cover third base. He said in February:

“It’s Raffy Devers’ position. He’s the third baseman and at that point, that’s where it stands, and he’s done it for a really long time now and he’s only getting better at the position. His defense is getting better every single year, we don’t know what the future holds but we know it holds Raffy Devers.”

But given the defensive upside that comes with Bregman at third, manager Alex Cora decided to use Devers as the designated hitter. Devers didn't like the idea, and after Casas suffered a season-ending injury, the franchise gave him an ultimatum to either move to first base or get traded.

The Red Sox ultimately traded Devers to the San Francisco Giants.
