Trey Yesavage sends emotional message to his parents after historic World Series Game 5 performance

Toronto Blue Jays rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage showed an elite level of performance in Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium. He struck out 12 in seven innings, helping the Blue Jays beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-1 to take a 3-2 lead in the 2025 World Series.

Yesavage's parents were in the stands cheering for him. After the game, a reporter asked the rookie pitcher:

“Your parents have followed you every step of the way. What will you tell them when you see them tonight?”

Yesavage gave a heartfelt answer:

“I'm just going to tell them that I love ’em, safe travel back to Pennsylvania, and I’ll see them on Friday.”

Yesavage became the second pitcher to strike out more than 10 batters in the first five innings. The first was Dodger player Sandy Koufax in 1963 in Game 1 of the World Series.

Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at Rogers Centre in Toronto, and Yesavage expressed his excitement:

“Mentally, I'll be prepared for Game 6,” Yesavage said. “But I mean, I'm just ready for whatever's next. If there is a next.”

On Oct. 9, the couple celebrated two years together, as the Blue Jays rookie pitcher shared a sweet carousel on Instagram. The image features Yesavage behind Taylor with his arm around her shoulder.

“Happy anniversary to the woman that completes me! You are my best friend. You know how to always put a smile on my face. You fill my life with love and I’m so thankful for you. You do so much behind the scenes for us that goes unnoticed, but I see it. I love you more and more with every day that passes ❤️,” he wrote in the caption.
