New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner cleared manager Aaron Boone of any mismanagement in the club's ALDS loss against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees went down in the ALDS after just four games, as they extended their World Series drought since 2009.In his interview on Monday, Steinbrenner pinned the blame of the loss against the Blue Jays on Aaron Judge & Co. He said Boone made strong decisions and shouldn't be blamed for players' shortcomings."He's a good manager at many of the things he has to do," Steinbrenner said. "He's not perfect -- I'm not perfect, you're not perfect. But he is great at dealing with the players, with his staff, with Cash's people, with Cash, with you guys -- and he makes overall good decisions on the field. So you can't pin this on Aaron Boone, that's for sure."This Toronto series was on the players. It's on the players' shoulders, period. They didn't hit. We had a couple of bad starts. And obviously against the Blue Jays -- as I've already said -- you can't do any of that when they're playing as well as they were entering the playoffs."So, for those wondering if Hal Steinbrenner was going to fire Aaron Boone after another postseason failure, he won't.What Aaron Boone said about his future with Yankees? After exiting the postseason, following the loss to the Blue Jays, Aaron Boone was asked if he was expecting to get fired. He replied:"I’m under contract, so I don’t expect anything."The manager also said that the season got to him on a personal level.“Just a hard year,” Boone said. “There were just some tough moments, but also like in a lot of ways very rewarding to go through some of the moments we went through in the middle of the season especially.“To see this kind of team come together in a really special way. That is a tight knit, and I feel like we got so much better in the final couple months of the season. So it was more a very tough year on me, that’s all. And it’s not about me, but that’s all I was saying. But also very rewarding to go through and see what these guys became.”The Yankees picked up Boone’s 2025 option and extended him through 2027 earlier in the year. At the time, Boone said he was "thrilled" and added that there's no place else he'd rather be.Despite the defining comments from the top of the Yankees management, Aaron Boone will stay on the firing line as far as fans are concerned.
