As the St. Louis Cardinals look to rebuild their roster ahead of the 2026 season, veteran Nolan Arenado may be on his way away from Busch Stadium. Though Arenado's offensive production has declined in recent seasons, he remains as safe a glove as ever at the hot corner, and several teams are reportedly keeping an eye on the eight-time All-Star.

According to insider Ryan Fagan, trading for Nolan Arenado would make a lot of sense for the LA Angels. He explained his thoughts during Sunday's episode of "Cards Central."

"There are a lot of third baseman available, whether it's free agents or (via) trades. I think (Arenado moving to) the Angels makes sense because they're not necessarily competing at the top of that third baseman market," Fagan said. [17:58]

"They're not waiting to see where Alex Bregman signs before they go out and make a secondary move. I think that's why Arenado makes a ton of sense for the Angels."

Responding, the executive admitted both the player and the organization agreed that it was best to look for a "different fit".

"That’s one [where] we’ve been pretty open about this, and we are on the same page with Nolan,” Bloom said via MLB's official website. “I believe he’s going to the Hall of Fame. One of the better players in the history of the game.

"We all feel like it’s best to find a different fit. So, obviously, we’ll work on that with him. If and when that will happen, I don’t know. But it’s something that he’s been a total pro about.”
