The New York Mets and the Baltimore Orioles have emerged as top landing spots because of the personnel in their respective front offices who have a close association with the left-hander. Orioles GM Mike Elias was part of the Astros' front office during Valdez's first four seasons. Meanwhile, Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns was the Astros' assistant GM when Valdez was signed.

Fans reacted to this latest development in Valdez's free agency. Some raised questions about his character.

"Isn't that the mf who threw at his own catcher after letting up a home run?" one fan asked.
"Valdez's command would be huge for either team. Interesting to see if the Mets connection to pitching coach Jeremy Hefner gives them an edge," one fan commented.

"Send him to Baltimore!" another reacted.
"Forget the bidding war, it's just the Astros alumni network doing the heavy lifting. Valdez just needs to pick which old boss he wants to reunite with. Classic baseball," one fan added.
"It feels like the Mets are in drive up the price on everyone mode," one fan wrote.

"..bcse god forbid, the @Yankees actually sign a pitcher..💀⚠️⚾️" one fan commented.

Framber Valdez cleaning his image by meeting with GMs

On September 2, during the game against the New York Yankees, Framber Valdez allowed a grand slam in the fifth inning. In order to rest his nerves, Astros catcher Cesar Salazar requested the pitcher to step off the mound but Valdez ignored him.

On the very next pitch, Valdez crossed up his own catcher, throwing a fastball that hit the chest protector of Salazar. However, Valdez defended himself after the game, saying that the cross up was a result of miscommunication with the catcher. Salazar also tried to defend his pitcher by saying that he pressed the wrong button.

After the game, Astros manager Joe Espada held meetings with Valdez and Salazar to address the issue internally.

On the outside, it ignited a firestorm, with several raising issues against Valdez's character. Now, he is trying to clean his image by reportedly holding meetings with GMs across the MLB.

This is Valdez's way of coming clean so that he doesn't miss out on any lucrative contracts.
