"The mention was cool but movie was Basura" - Fans react as Kathryn Bigelow brings Francisco Lindor into her Netflix dystopian thriller

With five All-Star selections, two Gold Gloves and four Silver Slugger awards to his name, New York Mets superstar Francisco Lindor is one of the most popular players in the big leagues.

It appears the shorstop's influence extends beyond the world of baseball, as two-time Academy Award winning director Kathryn Bigelow decided to include a reference to the 31-year-old in her latest film, "A House of Dynamite", a dystopian thriller that released on Netflix on September 10.

SportsNet New York took to Instagram to inform fans about Lindor's special shout-out on Tuesday.

"Francisco Lindor was referenced multiple times in the new Netflix film directed by Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow, 'A House of Dynamite'." the post read

Reacting, several fans left comments on the post, with the film receiving varying reviews.

"The mention was cool but that movie was Basura (garbage/trash in Spanish)" a fan wrote

Francisco Lindor and the New York Mets will be looking to return to their best in 2026

Having signed a lot of quality talent in last year's offseason, the New York Mets entered the 2025 season as favorites to win their division and challenge for the pennant come October.

Initially, they looked like they were going to live up to that billing, spending pretty much the entirety of the first half occupying top spot in the NL East.

However, a stunning collapse in the second half of the season saw them not only reqinquish their lead in the division, but also catastrophically fail to qualify for the playoffs altogether.

With a long offseason ahead, Francisco Lindor and company will now look to get the disappointment of 2025 behind them, before returning to action in 2026, hoping to right the wrongs of last season.
