With multiple teams eyeing Cody Bellinger or Kyle Tucker this offseason, Steven Kwan has emerged as a fallback option for the New York Yankees. Bellinger has opted to become a free agent, leaving the Yankees to either re-sign or at least have as good an outfielder in their ranks.

On Friday, Talkin' Yankees opened up on the voicemails they received about potential trade targets for the Yankees. A person on the voicemail shared that Kwan would be a dream trade deal for the Yankees since he has two years remaining on his contract. He also suggested that Kwan would be perfect because the Yankees need a contact hitter while the Guardians need someone with power.

Fans also shared their views on X regarding this potential trade scenario.

"He’s a better option than Bellinger," one fan wrote.
"top f*cking putting jones in trade talks seriously. Not happening especially for f*ckin Kwan," one fan took issue with the show, suggesting that Spencer Jones and Jasson Dominguez could be potentially be traded in order to acquire Kwan.

"I like kwan, contact hitter with eilite defensive capabilities in the outfield, this lineup needs a little guardball to it," another fan added.
"fallback? i think that’s the best option," one fan commented.
"Fallback option my a** he should be their number one priority over those moves," another reacted.
"The Yankees aren’t going to fall back on anything if they don’t get Bellinger (lol at Tucker). They have Judge, Dominguez, are paying $20M for Grisham, and have Spencer Jones in the pipeline. The only person that will hold Jones back is Bellinger," one fan added.

What would Yankees need to give up in order to acquire Steven Kwan?

Steven Kwan turns free agent after two years, so acquiring him is more than just a short-term value. In each of his first four MLB seasons, he has yielded at least 3.0 fWAR, along with multiple Gold Gloves in the outfield. Thus, it's unlikely that Cleveland will settle for a low-ball return.

In order to facilitate this trade, the Yankees might have to give up an MLB-ready player on top of prospects or future draft picks. That MLB prospect could be Spencer Jones or Jasson Dominguez, based on what Cleveland wants in return.

However, it's still a fallback option as the team is expected to be focused on re-signing Bellinger.
