The Red Sox traded Gray from the St. Louis Cardinals last month, making him the latest player to feature for the New York Yankees and Boston. However, his comments after joining the Red Sox affirmed his loyalty to the team.

"What did factor into my decision to come to Boston, it feels good to me to go to a place now where, you know what, it’s easy to hate the Yankees, right?” Gray said. “It’s easy to go out and have that rivalry and go into it with full force, full steam ahead. I like the challenge.”

Following Gray's head-turning comment, Anthony weighed in on the controversy by expressing his excitement about being part of the historic rivalry with Gray.

"Yeah, I mean, I'm excited to have him," Anthony said. "He seems like a competitor. He seems like he's ready to play in Boston and take on the fans in Boston. Obviously, he's done it in a big market before. So it will be exciting to have him and just learn from him as a young guy."

Anthony hit .292 with a .396 on-base percentage and a 130 wRC+ over 71 games after being promoted to the senior team last season. However, his rookie year ended abruptly after an oblique injury at the start of September.

The young outfielder is expected to feature for the Red Sox's first game against the Yankees at Fenway Park in April.
