Chasing their first taste of World Series glory since 2009, the New York Yankees are looking to bolster their squad ahead of next season. With their outfield in particular needing some reinforcements, top free agents such as Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger continue to be linked with the Bronx Bombers. Apart from these two, however, it appears a surprise move for San Diego Padres superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. may be in the works. Though Tatis is under team control for several years, the Dominican could be traded as the Padres navigate a potential change in ownership. Speaking about the blockbuster trade on X, Sportscaster Keith McPherson appears to be ob board with Tatis' potential move to the Bronx. "Tatis is a superstar. Tatis hits in the postseason. Tatis can't wait for those moments in the postseason. Tatis loves the energy of the fans. Put Tatis in Yankee Stadium," McPherson said.Tatis enjoyed an impressive campaign in 2025. The 26-year-old played an influential role in helping the Padres get to the postseason, finishing the regular season with a .268 batting average, 25 home runs and 71 RBIs. On an individual level, the Dominican earned his third All-Star selection halway through the season, before being named the best defensive player in the NL, taking home the prestigious Platinum Glove, much more recently in November. "He'd be a huge star" - Broadcaster assesses New York Yankees' interest in Fernando Tatis Jr. Just like Keith McPherson, another popular sportscaster, Michael Kay, also had his say on the Yankees' interest in Fernando Tatis Jr., during Friday's episode of "The Michael Kay Show".Similar to McPherson, Kay is also of the opinion that Tatis' acquisition would be an "unbelievable" piece of business."This type of player would play huge in New York,"Kay said. "He'd be unbelievable. He'd be a huge star. I know he's had his PED problems. And if he gets banged again for a PED problem, you're kind of out of contract, aren't you? Now, you can say, "Well, we're giving up a lot of people, and we're one bad test away from maybe being out of contract." You can take that chance because he's excelled since being banged on the PED charge," Kay said.
