MLB insider Bob Nightengale is receiving flak from fans after his latest comments about the Dodgers' bullpen decision, especially their closing role. In the postseason, where the Dodgers won their ninth title, the club used rookie Roki Sasaki as a closer despite the Japanese pitcher being a starter at the start of the season. In his latest interaction on Foul Territory, Nightengale found it nonsensical for Dodgers manager Dave Roberts not to have his bullpen aligned, needing to rely on starting pitchers to get the job done."They need to get that bullpen right," Nightengale said. "Obviously, they're not going to pitch starters, you know, in relief like they did in the postseason. You can't do that in the regular season, but I think they've got to go get a big-time closer and kind of end the nonsense that happened last year... I think Dan Roberts is losing his mind having to pick and choose night after night."Fans found it wrong on Nightengale's part to call out a bullpen that won the championship and forced the Toronto Blue Jays to choke in the World Series."Poor Dave Roberts. Easily the hardest job in professional sports," one fan wrote."“Nonsense that happened this year” - like winning the World Series?" one fan asked."Yeah poor Dave Roberts however does he cope. Maybe a $400MM payroll will help him push the rock up hill," one fan added."They did go get a closer.. Just didnt work out as planned. On paper I thought we had the closers. They got to now once again find one although Tanner still signed lol," one fan reacted."They added the two best closers on the market last year. What is he talking about?" one fan mocked the journalist."You know baseball is a joke when your starting rotation is worth a billion dollars and will still be able to afford a top dollar closer," one fan noted.Bob Nightengale suggests Dodgers will go big in free agency for bullpenThe Dodgers' bullpen suffered a lot of injuries this season, including Tanner Scott's, who the Dodgers signed to a four-year, $72 million deal.In his appearance on Foul Territory, Bob Nightengale suggested that the Dodgers could go big this free agency. The journalist mentions the names whom we can expect the Dodgers could go after."Hopefully Tanner Scott, who has a new arm coming back, and some of these other guys. I think they'll go get a big name. I think they'll be in the Díaz thing. You know, he can do it. I don't know if they'll bring back Kenley Jansen."I think it'd be a cool story if he did come back, but they'll love to get some stud. Tell you what, I mean, if it wasn't for the Emmanuel Clase gambling thing, they would be all in on him, getting him to L.A., trading for him. So, that type of guy."It remains to be seen how the Dodgers solve their bullpen issues or if they go out and sign a big name this offseason.
