Bo Bichette played a starring role as the Toronto Blue Jays enjoyed a historic campaign in 2025, winning the AL East for the first time since 2015 and making it to the World Series for the first time since 1993. The infielder finished the regular season with a .311 atting average, 18 home runs and 94 RBIs.
Now a free agent, several teams are interested in acquiring Bichette this winter. According to an X post by popular baseball content page "Fireside Yankees", the 27-year-old could be a good fit for the New York Yankees.
"Mark Feinsand has linked the Yankees as a potential suitor for INF Bo Bichette this winter👀 Bichette posted a 134 wRC+ with 18 home runs in 139 games with Toronto in 2025. Bo to the Bronx?" the post read
Fans' reactions to the take appeared to be quite divided. Many were in favor of the move.
"I think he’s the perfect protection for Judge" a fan wrote
"A guy can dream" another fan commented
"Need this like air" another fan replied
Others, meanwhile, appeared to be against the idea.
"Another DH??? No thanks!" another fan responded
"Absolutely f***ing not. With the money he's projected to get especially not. He has some of the worst defense you'll ever see at shortstop, if you move him to 2B or 3B he's still gonna be an awful defender. Also not banking on him to be a consistently good hitter on top of that" another fan shared
"To play where? Shortstop-the WORST fielding shortstop in the league/majors? 2nd base-uhh kind of got a guy there. Is he being dealt? DH-uhh kinda got a real expensive guy there." another fan posted
In addition to his hitting ability, Bo Bichette's potential acquisition gives the Yankees some important versatility in the infield, per insider
On Friday, November 7, insider Mike Feinsand of MLB.com published an article assessing Bo Bichette's options in free agency. Analyzing a potential move to the Yankees, Feinsand explained how Bichette could offer the 27-time World Series champions some important versatility in the infield.
"With Anthony Volpe undergoing shoulder surgery that will keep him out for the start of the season, the Yankees can reassess the shortstop position following another down season by their former top prospect."
"Jazz Chisholm Jr. is under control for one more season, so the Yankees could use Bichette at shortstop in 2026, then move either Bichette or Volpe to second base if Chisholm leaves as a free agent." Feinsand wrote

Additionally, taking an important player away from AL East rivals the Toronto Blue Jays would be another factor working in the Yankees' favor, were they to go ahead with the move.
