Former MLB pitcher John Rocker did not shy away from making controversial statements during his playing days and he has continued that trend since retiring.

Rocker, a frequent critic of Zohran Mamdani, took his criticism up a notch following Mamdani's victory in the New York City mayoral election. Shortly after Mamdani's victory became official on Tuesday, Rocker shared a series of social media posts berating him and the city.

"25 years ago, I compared riding the subway in New York City to riding a train in Beirut. Tonight, the city, in great disgrace, elected a muslim socialist to be the next mayor. NEW YORK HAS OFFICIALLY FALLEN," Rocker wrote.

"ELECTING POLITICIANS LIKE MOHAMMED MAMDANI WILL CAUSE AMERICA TO FALL," he wrote in the next post.

Rocker then claimed New York would change for the worse due to Mamdani.

"Taxis will be replaced by camels. Women will be forced to cover themselves head to toe. NYPD will be replaced with religious police. All hot dog stands will be replaced with goat meat stands. THIS IS WHAT YOU VOTED FOR," Rocker wrote.

"The Islamic Emirate of New York," Rocker wrote in his next post.

"New York has officially become California," he wrote in another post.

"NEVER FORGET 9/11 (x8)," he wrote in the next post.

Rocker played six seasons in MLB as a relief pitcher. He played two and a half seasons with the Atlanta Braves before short stints with the Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

John Rocker goes off on the New York Attorney General

Letitia Ann "Tish" James, the 67th attorney general of New York, endorsed Zohran Mamdani before the mayoral election. Tish, the first African American and first woman NYAG, shared a multi-snap post on X to support Mamdani.

"Brooklyn is out and ready to elect [Zohran Mamdani]! Get out and vote, NYC! The polls are open until 9 PM," she captioned the post.

John Rocker didn't appreciate James endorsing Mamdani. He reshared her post and showed his disdain.

"How the f**k do we have Attorney Generals that support socialists? AMERICA IS BROKEN," Rocker wrote.

Such remarks are nothing new to John Rocker. During an interview with Sports Illustrated in December 1999, Rocker made seemingly transphobic, homophobic, and xenophobic remarks about the residents of New York City.

More recently, Rocker made anti-Ukraine statements after Russia's invasion of the nation.
