As MLB's offseason hot stove continues following the conclusion of the winter meetings, some new players are hitting the buzz on the trade market, including Corey Seager and Jeff McNeil.

Let's take a look at those rumors:

Corey Seager among premier trade targets

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Texas Rangers are listening to offers on two-time World Series MVP Corey Seager. While that doesn't mean that Seager will definitely be moved this offseason, the Rangers are ready to shake up their roster, even trading away Marcus Semien to the New York Mets in exchange for Brandon Nimmo.

Passan highlighted the benefits of acquiring the 31-year old:

"He's only 31, he plays an excellent shortstop and of all the position players ostensibly available via trade or free agency, he is the best."

Seager is on a 10-year, $325 million contract. Out of this, $186 million is still remaining on his contract. But with the Rangers crunching over their payroll, if a good trade value comes along, don't be surprised to find Seagers in a new jersey in 2026.

Meanwhile, the Mets are one team that is interested in landing Seager.

Jeff McNeil's trade rumors surface

After trading Brandon Nimmo and losing Pete Alonso to the Baltimore Orioles in free agency, the Mets are shaking up their roster and this could make a big impact on Jeff McNeil's future with the team.

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Mets could trade McNeil in the offseason as part of their broader plan to bring impactful players to the team.

The Mets have already lost Alonso on a five-year deal to the Baltimore Orioles and Edwin Diaz on a three-year, $69 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. As such, players like McNeil automatically become a trade chip for the team to navigate in the offseason.

Now, the Mets need a reliable infield option. They have already replaced Diaz by signing Devin Williams (three-year, $51 million contract), who had a horrible year with the Yankees in 2025.
