MLB Rumor: Kyle Tucker spotted inside Blue Jays facility; Red Sox emerge as pivotal landing spot for Pete Alonso

Kyle Tucker and Pete Alonso are some of the biggest free agents on the market. Tucker played the 2025 season with the Chicago Cubs, hitting .266 with 22 home runs and 73 RBIs. He is expected to sign a contract in the vicinity of $400 million.

Meanwhile, Alonso proved why he deserves a long-term contract by having a great year with the New York Mets, hitting .272 with 38 home runs, prompting him to become a free agent again.

The Toronto Buzz on Kyle Tucker

The Toronto Blue Jays are coming off their best campaign since 1993 as they fell just a few outs short of winning the 2025 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 7. They are looking to bolster their roster and Kyle Tucker is expected to be a great outfield addition.

Tucker was reportedly spotted at the Blue Jays' facility in Toronto, giving pace to rumors. It appears the Blue Jays are not slowing down following their blockbuster signing of Dylan Cease.

Apart from the Blue Jays, New York Yankees and the Dodgers are emerging as top landing spots for the outfielder.

The Pete Alonso-Red Sox Angle

Pete Alonso's free agency is once again taking the turn slowly just like last offseason. While the Mets are evaluating their options and are probably waiting to get some leverage before they offer first baseman their final offer, the Polar Bear is receiving interest from an American League team.

According to MLB insider Jim Bowden, the Red Sox are one of the top landing spots for the first baseman, apart from the Mets.

Boston's interest has to do with their need for power, especially at first base or designated hitter. Hitting home runs is no big deal for Alonso and the Red Sox could certainly use that power.

Meanwhile, the Mets might also not want to lose Alonso, given the sentimental value associated with the first baseman and their fanbase. They have already traded franchise star Brandon Nimmo and losing Alonso in free agency could land them out of favor with fans. As such, they will continue to evaluate Alonso's market and make a decision on what to offer him.
