The New York Yankees are looking to strengthen their roster this offseason after the disappointing end to the 2025 season in the American League Division Series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Yankees are reportedly pushing for the return of All-Star outfielder Cody Bellinger, who opted out of his contract after his one season with the Bronx Bombers in 2025.

However, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan, if the Yankees re-sign Bellinger, it would be a surplus of outfield options as Trent Grisham accepted the team's qualifying offer earlier in the offseason.

Passan reported that the Yankees could potentially trade Jasson Dominguez to balance out the roster. Dominguez had a tough time in left field last season and was also used as a designated hitter after Giancarlo Stanton's injury at the start of the season.

Dominguez posted a .257 batting average with 10 home runs, 47RBIs, 23 stolen bases, and 98 hits in 2025. Hitting prospect Spencer Jones is also reported to be a potential trade candidate for the Yankees.

While the Yankees are in the market for power hitters, the Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly looking to fortify the bullpen. The Dodgers are linked with a move for All-Star closer Edwin Diaz, who opted out of his five-year deal with the New York Mets at the end of last season.

Dodgers looking at Edwin Diaz with Roki Sasaki reportedly set to move back to rotation

According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the Dodgers are willing to make a splash on pitching options this offseason amid reported pursuits of free agent hitters, Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger.

"Roki Sasaki filled the role through the postseason, but he’s expected to return to the rotation, leaving a vacancy in the ninth inning," Feinsand wrote. "Díaz opted out of the final two years of his record-setting, five-year, $102 million contract with the Mets, and whether or not he exceeds that with his next deal, he’s a perfect fit for a team that never hesitates to spend."

The Dodgers' interest in Diaz seemingly intensified after the Mets' signed Devin Williams, potentially closing the door on the former New York pitcher's return to Citi Field.
