If the Red Sox sign Bichette, they could move him to second base, moving Trevor Story to shortstop.Bichette, who had been the Blue Jays' designated shortstop for the majority of his tenure, made the switch to second base during the postseason. Jim Bowden of The Athletic has listed the Red Sox as one of the two favorites for the signing of Alonso, along with his former team.The All-Star infielder batted .272 for the Mets in 2025, with 126 RBIs and 38 home runs. While there has been question marks about Alonso's throwing in the last two seasons, the Red Sox could utilize his powerful bat as a designated hitter.
