Considered by many to be the No.1 free agent this offseason, outfielder Kyle Tucker is linked to a number of franchises, including the New York Yankees.

Ending the 2025 season with a .266 batting average, 22 home runs and 73 RBIs, Tucker played a starring role in helping the Chicago Cubs make the playoffs, earning his fourth All-Star selection and second Silver Slugger award in the process.

With the Yankees looking to bolster their outfield with someone who can make important contributions at the plate, the World Series champion appears to be a perfect fit.

Along with Tucker's addition, insider Jim Bowden claimed the Bronx Bombers could also decide to trade for Miami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara, giving up prospect Spencer Jones in return.

"I think Sandy Alcantara of the Miami Marlins has a legitimate shot at getting traded to the New York Yankees," Bowden said. "I know they've had a lot of discussions.
"I think if the Yankees decided they'd give up Spencer Jones, think of this for a minute, they could sign Kyle Tucker in free agency, and trade Spencer Jones for Alcantara. Now you've added Kyle Tucker and Sandy Alcantara to the team that won 94 games last year, and that would be a game changer for them."

Yankees' chances of landing Kyle Tucker may have improved after the Blue Jays made their first big splash of the offseason

In late November, the Toronto Blue Jays made their first big acquisition of the offseason, bolstering their pitching staff by signing right-handed starter Dylan Cease to a seven-year, $210 million deal.

Though this gives the Jays' rotation some much needed depth, breaking the bank to secure Cease's services may lead to a situation where Toronto must choose between Bo Bichette and Kyle Tucker, and according to reports, the organization is inclined towards siding with the former.

This may give the Yankees' chances of landing the outfielder a significant boost, as the Blue Jays were initially considered one of the favorites to sign Tucker.

Other big contenders, such as the LA Dodgers, New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies, however, are still going to offer stiff competition.
