Bo Bichette enjoyed a superb campaign in 2025, playing a key role in helping the Toronto Blue Jays win the AL East for the first time since 2015.
Now a free agent, the Blue Jays are allegedly keen on re-signing the 27-year-old. However, nothing is yet set in stone, and a number of other franchises continue to keep an eye on Bichette.
According to insider Jon Morosi, reigning AL West champions the Seattle Mariners may be able to secure a bargain for Bo Bichette this winter.
"The market is in such a way that you might be able to get Bo, I'm not going to call it a discount, but at a rate that makes sense for the Seattle Mariners," Morosi said (Timestamp: 8:02). Offensively, he would fit this lineup really well, he would be a perfect fit for this team. If he's willing to play second base on a full-time basis, he'd be really great for this team, because you wouldn't have to trade J.P. Crawford.
"The reality is there are not a ton of teams that are looking for an everyday shortstop right now. The fact that Bichette has not signed yet, I think is somewhat related to this reality that it's not a super-optimal time to be a free-agent shorstop. For that reason, the Mariners could actually capitalize on that and say 'wait a minute, we can get Bo at a good time without a ton of competition.' It would not surprise me if the Mariners have carefully done their homework on this."
Insider explains why ascertaining the right value for Bo Bichette is not a straightforward process
Featuring on Monday's episode of "Hot Stove," insider Shi Davidi explained why deciding the right amount for Bo Bichette's contract is not a straightforward process.
"I felt all along both the Blue Jays and Bo Bichette have needed the market to help them frame the value, and that piece of it is playing out," Davidi said. "You hear that a lot of teams are getting involved, some people think that the market for him is still fully developing.
"I think there's just a lot of stuff at play. The Blue Jays do continue wanting to bring him back, he obviously has reason to want to come back as well. But he is exploring the market, as he rightfully should. He's a really interesting case in terms of how you value him. I've heard people suggest the spectrum of anywhere from Marcus Semien money to Xander Bogaerts money."

Bo Bichette ended the 2025 regular season with a .311 batting average, 18 home runs and 94 RBIs, earning himself an inclusion in the All-MLB second team.
