Bo Bichette enjoyed a superb campaign in 2025. Finishing the reuglar season with a .311 batting average, 18 home runs and 94 RBIs, the infielder played a starring role as the Blue Jays won the AL East for the first time since 2015.

Now a free agent, Blue Jays fans are naturally clamoring for the organization to re-sign Bichette. With a number of other top franchises also reportedly interested, however, his future remains shrouded in uncertainty.

On Monday's episode of "Hot Stove," insider Shi Davidi had his say on Bichette's potential contract value, and why arriving at the right number may not be a straightforward process.

"I still think that it's early to definitely say that (Bichette will be returning to Toronto). I do think there continues to be mutual interest on both sides," Davidi said. "I felt all along both the Blue Jays and Bo Bichette have needed the market to help them frame the value, and that piece of it is playing out. You hear that a lot of teams are getting involved, some people think that the market for him is still fully developing.

"I think there's just a lot of stuff at play. The Blue Jays do continue wanting to bring him back, he obviously has reason to want to come back as well. But he is exploring the market, as he rightfully should. He's a really interesting case in terms of how you value him. I've heard people suggest the spectrum of anywhere from Marcus Semien money to Xander Bogaerts money."

Marcus Semien signed a seven-year, $175 million deal with the Texas Rangers in Dec. 2021, while Xander Bogaerts signed an 11-year, $280 million contract with the San Diego Padres one year later.

Insider estimates Bo Bichette's contract ceiling

On Monday's episode of "Toronto Sports Rush", insider Keegan Matheson speculated what Bo Bichette's contract ceiling could be.

""What's his average annual value at this point?" Matheson said (Timestamp: 14:40). "So, if he is getting, let's say, an eight-year deal, I don't think you want Bo until he's 40. But if you're going to sign him until he's 35, 30 on an 8-year deal, are you comfortable giving him 25 a year? Eight for 200. Is that the ceiling of where this goes?"
