As the LA Dodgers traveled north of the border to take on the Toronto Blue Jays for the first two games of the World Series, Shohei Ohtani was public enemy number one for the Blue Jays faithful present inside the Rogers Center.

He was the target of several chants, one of which involved opposing fans yelling "We don't need you!" at the 31-year-old. This was likely in reference to Ohtani's decision to sign with the Dodgers instead of the Blue Jays, when he was a free agent a few years ago.

While speaking to press on Sunday, Shohei Ohtani revealed his wife, Mamiko Tanaka, actually "appreciated" the clever chant. Popular baseball content page "Dodgers Nation" later took to Instagram to post about Ohtani's admission.

Alongside all the success he enjoyed on the field, matters off the field have also been cause for celebration for Shohei and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka.

Earlier this year in April, the couple welcomed their first child together, a daughter, shortly after which Ohtani took to Instagram to post a message.

"Welcome to the Ohtani Family! I am so grateful to my loving wife who gave birth to our healthy beautiful daughter. To my daughter, thank you for making us very nervous yet super anxious parents.”

“I would also like to thank the Dodgers organization, my teammates, and the fans for their constant support and kind words of encouragement. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to all the medical professionals and everyone who dedicated their support to us, up until this wonderful day.” Ohtani posted

With a chance to win the World Series for the second consecutive year, Shohei Ohtani will be hoping to close out a great year on the perfect note.
