The New York Mets' team dynamics have been discussed at length this offseason. Several reports claimed that the core group of players was unsatisfied as personalities clashed in the clubhouse. The talks intensified on Sunday after Juan Soto made his feelings known about Pete Alonso signing with the Baltimore Orioles.

Speaking to the Dominican media, Soto said that a few members of the team were aware that Alonso wasn't coming back to the Queens.

“Before the news came out, we already knew what was going to happen, like I said, I always keep in contact with the team,” Soto said.

Despite that, Soto described his relationship with the franchise leader in home runs positively.

"We got along well, Pete is a tremendous player, tremendous person, a person that cares about his team and wants the best for his team," he added.

However, fans weren't convinced by Soto's words as they felt he didn't get along with Alonso as he claimed.

Here are a few reactions from X:

"That means they were not friends," a fan wrote.

"Hollywood Soto destroying the Mets from within…," another fan wrote.

"Lmaooo now you keep in contact with your teammates?! What happened last yr?. This guy," a fan said in disappointment.

"I guess the next question should just be do you have any friends other than Marte or Dominicans LOL," a fan stated.

"Soto danced around whether or not Alonso was a friend. If Soto wanted Alonso back he would’ve been knocking down Cohen & Stearns’ doors. Soto gave impression that he’s only concerned about himself," a fan commented.

"So Soto wanted him gone is what I take from this. Lindor is next!" a fan added.

Alonso signed a five-year, $155 million contract with the Orioles. It was reported that after he received the offer from Baltimore, his team went back to the Mets to check if they wanted to match the offer. He received no response from the management, as the Mets knew they didn't want to spend so much on him.

The Mets also got outbid by the Los Angeles Dodgers for top reliever Edwin Diaz, who opted out of his contract with the Mets and received a three-year $69 million contract. They signed Jorge Polanco as a replacement for Alonso, and are expected to play newly acquired Devin Williams as their closer in place of Diaz.

Juan Soto makes feelings known about his relationship with Francisco Lindor

The New York Post reported on Nov. 28 in an exclusive article that Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil had gotten into a confrontation after a game against the Philadelphia Phillies. The article, by Mike Puma, further quoted an anonymous source saying that Lindor and Soto have divergent personas.

Speaking to Luz García in Spanish on her YouTube channel on Dec. 13, Soto cleared the air about Lindor.

“Good. I get along very well with Lindor. You know, he’s a great ball player and a tremendous person, and a happy person in the clubhouse amongst everything else," Soto said in translated Spanish.

Lindor is under contract with the Mets for the next six seasons, unless he is put on the trade block. Both he and Soto will have to lead New York as they look to bounce back from the disappointing 2025 campaign.
