Los Angeles Dodgers two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani was named the NL MVP for a second consecutive season on Thursday. It is the fourth overall title for the Japanese superstar.Ohtani, who resumed pitching this season, was one of the favorites for the award after batting .282 with 55 home runs and 102 RBIs during the regular season.His home run tally in the NL was only bettered by the Philadelphia Phillies' Kyle Schwarber, who had 56 home runs. Ohtani got all 30 first-place votes to beat competition from Schwarber and New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto.Ohtanio was sitting with his wife, Mamiko, and their dog Decoy when the award was announced, and he gave a shoutout to the other MVP finalists."Juan Soto and Kyle Schwarber had amazing seasons," Ohtani said.The Japanese two-way phenom's fourth title moves him in second place on the all-time list, trailing San Francisco Giants icon Barry Bonds, who won the award seven times.However, Ohtani is the only player to have multiple MVP titles in both leagues two in the AL with the Los Angeles Angels and two in the NL with the Dodgers.
