Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith credited his wife, Cara Smith, as an essential pillar of support, acknowledging her immense commitment to helping him navigate a demanding professional baseball career.
Speaking to The Today Show in a video posted on Thursday, Smith acknowledged the emotional and logistical strain that Cara endures, in having to handle their two daughters, Layton and Charlotte, while balancing the duress of a stressful baseball season and even the offseason.
"It's a lot. I lean on my wife a lot," Smith said. "She's the best. It's a full-time job, you know, even though it's offseason now, but you're still kind of preparing for spring training. Get in your workouts and all that. I'm not working out yet, but I will in a couple of weeks."
The heartfelt reaction resonated within the Dodgers community, with Tyler Glasnow's fiancée, Meghan Murphy, appreciating Smith's sweet gesture of support towards his wife. She publicly endorsed Cara's dedication as a mother.
"The Besttt mama," Meghan wrote.

Cara and Will Smith have been together since their days at the University of Louisville. They tied the knot in December 2020, welcoming their firstborn, Charlotte, in October 2022, and their younger daughter, Layton, in October 2024.
Cara was herself moved by her husband's sweet gesture as she reposted the reel on her story with two accompanying emojis describing her feelings.

Will Smith also reflected on sharing the Dodgers' success with his young children.
"My youngest, no, she's only a year old, but my three-year-old, I feel like she kind of does,"Smith said. "She likes to play with the confetti and stuff. Yeah, it's just crazy to think, you know, they've been a part of two (championships) now in such short lives so far."
Will Smith acknowledges his wife picks his walk-up songs
Will Smith also disclosed that his better half, Cara, has been picking all of his walk-up songs. Starting from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song to this year's pick, it has all been Cara Smith's choosing.
"My wife actually picks it every year," Smith said. "She has for the last five, six years. She crushes it every year. I definitely say no to a lot, like this year it took a little convincing, but, yeah, Squabble Up by Kendrick (Lamar) it was a good one."
Smith has been an important figure in guiding the Dodgers to consecutive World Series wins. His go-ahead home run in the eleventh inning in Game 7 of the Fall Classic was the deciding factor against the Toronto Blue Jays.
