According to MLB Network, multiple clubs have reached out about Bichette but view him as a better fit at second base or third base, depending on roster construction and the presence of an established shortstop.

The update comes shortly after Bichette declined the Blue Jays’ $22.025 million qualifying offer, officially entering free agency for the first time in his career.

His strong 2025 campaign, hitting .311 with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs along with a productive World Series, has helped elevate his value across the league. Still, his long-term defensive fit remains a point of debate among front offices.

The debate has also carried over to fans, who’ve been quick to share their own opinions on his future.

“Even the Savannah Bananas wouldn’t have him play 3rd base,” another fan wrote.
“Seems like second base for the Mets if Alonso goes would be an interesting spot,” one fan commented.
“He’s going back to Toronto, I think we all can agree on that,” another fan said.
“Anybody wanting to play him at third is crazy. He doesn't have the arm for it.,” one fan said.

“If true, Braves should pursue Kim over Bichette. Wouldn’t want Ozzie moving to SS with his arm,” another fan tweeted.

Bo Bichette reflected on Blue Jays' World Series run, calls 2025 team "the most valuable lesson" of his career

Following the Toronto Blue Jays' heartbreaking Game 7 loss in the World Series, Bo Bichette reflected on what the season and the guys in the dugout meant to him this past year.

Speaking to reportersx inside the clubhouse, the 27-year-old shortstop exuded a sincere and emotional tone that instantly struck a chord with fans.

“I’ll remember this group forever,” Bichette said. “This group has taught me what a team is. I think it’s probably the most valuable lesson of my career.”

The quote comes as Bichette has an uncertain future ahead of him as he enters free agency for the first time.

Athough he didn't mention what his next step will be, it seems that there was certainly no shortage of pride felt by this player in what was accomplished by his team over the past year.

His play, along with his intangibles as a leader, brought a young team in the Blue Jays within one game of claiming the championship since 1993.
