Kyle Schwarber enjoyed a superb campaign in 2025. Finishing the regular season with a .240 batting average, 56 home runs and 132 RBIs, the slugger played a starring role in helping the Phillies win the NL East for the second consecutive year, earning his third All-Star selection in the process.

Now a free agent, the Phillies are reportedly keen on re-signing the veteran. However, with a number of other top clubs in the mix, Schwarber's future is by no means decided.

According to insider Jon Morosi, acquiring outfielder Cody Bellinger could be the Phillies' contingency plan, if they fail in their pursuit of Kyle Schwarber. In addition to the Phillies, Morosi reported that the New York Yankees, LA Dodgers and New York Mets had also shown interest in the two-time All-Star.

"Cody Bellinger, a very popular name right now across Major League Baseball," Morosi said. "I was told no fewer than three large-market teams are actively courting Cody Bellinger. Yes, the two New York Teams, and then potentially the Phillies and the Dodgers. We can understand why.
"You compare him to Kyle Tucker, there is (a) one year difference in age, but in most offensive categories in 2025, Bellinger had the better year, and very importantly, above average defense at multiple positions. It's a very unique package that Bellinger presents. There's a reason why the Yankees want him back, there's a reason why the Mets would like to have him, there's a reason why a team like the Dodgers is interested. For the Phillies, he is good insurance if Kyle Schwarber goes elsewhere."

Phillies POBO Dave Dombrowski has made his intentions of re-signing Kyle Schwarber clear in the past

Speaking to MLB Network Radio in April, Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski expressed his desire of ensuring Kyle Schwarber stays "a Phillie for years to come."

"He (Schwarber) is not only an outstanding talent, but the makeup of him, he's a genuine leader," Dombrowski said. "It's sort of tough to find [someone like him]. He's as good a guy as you can put on a ball club. We hope to keep him to be a Phillie for years to come, you can be assured of that."
