As popular baseball content page "DugoutReport" revealed via an Instagram post on Wednesday, it appears the Padres have managed to get one back over their arch-rivals. However, instead of being on the baseball field, the Padres' win came in a pickleball tournament organized at the GM meetings in Vegas.

"The Padres' front office won a pickleball tournament held by teams at the GM meetings in Vegas, per Jesse Rogers — and they beat the Dodgers to take home the title. Hang the banner? 🏆" the post read

Both the San Diego Padres and LA Dodgers are looking to bolster their pitching staff ahead of the 2026 season

With the baseball season now done and dusted, the players can afford to put their feet up and enjoy some well-deserved rest. While the players rest, it is now time for teams' front offices to perform.

For the San Diego Padres, the target this offseason appears to be bolstering the starting pitching rotation. Starters Dylan Cease and Michael King are both free agents, and Yu Darvish is set to miss the entirety of 2026 as he recovers from surgery.

As a result, it is the need of the hour for the San Diego Padres to make sure they acquire a number of solid starters, to perfectly compliment their outstanding bullpen. So far, reports have linked the likes of Joe Ryan and Cody Ponce with a move to Petco Park.

Pitching is also a concern for the LA Dodgers. In contrast to the Padres, however, their starting rotation is in a great spot at the moment, and it is the inconsistent bullpen that they will be looking to improve.

Closer Tanner Scott did not do well in 2025, and this may prompt LA to move for three-time All-Star Edwin Diaz this winter.
