Cody Bellinger has become one of the top free agents in the 2025 offseason. While the NY Yankees are aggressively pursuing him, the Mets, the reigning World Series champion LA Dodgers, and the Blue Jays are hot on his trail.

Additionally, with Trent Grisham accepting the Yankees' $22M qualifying offer, many are questioning New York's chances of retaining Bellinger amid competitors for his signature.

In an interview on Tuesday, Bellinger's agent Scott Boras hinted at a Bellinger-LA reunion with a projected contract being five to six years for $150M. Bellinger spent his first six MLB seasons in LA, where he won the NL MVP as well as a World Series ring.

"Cody had a great experience here," Boras said. "Rookie of the year, MVP, and he was Hollywood ringing. I think that players that have those experiences are very welcoming of anywhere like that."

Fans are divided on the reunion rumor, with many against the idea of it. One X user said,

“Dodgers are not stupid to get someone they non-tendered cause of his injury and bad years to pay him 30 million would be stupid.”

“Bellinger looks a lot different than his young Dodgers days. Sometimes you can’t rekindle what’s gone,” another added.

“Thanks, but hard pass,” one more noted.

“Didn't Boras blame the Dodgers for not helping Cody recover from his injuries? GTFOH,” another questioned.

“Yep, no chance he returns,” another penned.

While some loved the idea of seeing Bellinger in Dodger blue, his defensive slump made him questionable. One X user said,

“Love Bellinger. But can he hit inner third pitches yet? If not, then pass."

“Let’s goooo!” another noted.

Earlier this month, Cody Bellinger exercised his contractual opt-out of $25M for the 2026 season. However, he admitted that he’d be “absolutely” open to a reunion with the Yankees for another postseason run.

“It was a fun group to be a part of,” Cody Bellinger said after Yankees’ elimination in the ALDS. “We came up short, and that part stinks for sure, because we had a really, really good group here.”

After the Yankees acquired the outfielder from the Cubs, the 30-year-old recorded 29 HRs, 98 RBI, and .814 OPS in 152 games last season. Brian Cashman highly praised him for his performance with the team, saying he was one of the reasons the team went to the postseason.
