The Toronto Blue Jays made a strong start to World Series Game 6 on Friday after starting pitcher Kevin Gausman struck out the first three Los Angeles Dodgers batters he faced.

The Dodgers, who arrived in the do-or-die clash on the back of successive defeats, continued the trend of chasing pitches as Freddie Freeman struck out swinging on Gausman's splitter on a 1-2 count to end the first inning.

The Dodgers got to Gausman after two scoreless innings as Will Smith opened the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the third. Mookie Betts, who went hitless in Game 5, cleared the bases with a two-run single to make it 3-0 for the away team.

The Blue Jays got on the score sheet after George Springer's RBI single off Yoshinobu Yamamoto in the bottom of the frame to make it 3-1 after three innings.
