Intent on buidling on the success of 2025, the Toronto Blue Jays bolstered their starting pitching rotation on Wednesday, signing Dylan Cease to a seven-year, $210 million contract.Soon after, baseball content page "Talkin' Baseball" posted insider and Yankees loyalist Jake Storiale's take on the big move."Dylan Cease signs with Toronto, seven years, $210 million. Good for him, good for Blue Jays fans," Storiale said. "How deep are the (Blue Jays') pockets? I didn't think Cease was going to get that number."Toronto need to add a pitcher, could they add another? Bichette's coming back, right? Is that a Kyle Tucker team? How deep are Toronto's pockets? Making me nervous. Stoked for Toronto, where do they keep going? Are they going to spend a billion?"Davis Schneider's dad, Steve, responded with a light-hearted jab to Storiale's "worries".The rivalry between the New York and Toronto was on full display in 2025, and it was Toronto that came out on top all ends up this time around.Beating the Bronx Bombers to top spot in the AL East, the Jays piled on the misery on their rivals in the postseason, eliminating them in the ALDS."Bo Bichette is probably still the No. 1 priority" - insider claims signing Dylan Cease does decrease Blue Jays' chances of re-signing fan favoriteAlong with a starting pitcher, Blue Jays fans have also been clamoring for the organization to re-sign fan favorite Bo Bichette. With Dylan Cease securing a huge contract, many feared this may hinder chances of Bichette's return. However, according to insider Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, that might not necessarily be the case. Toronto's interest in another top free agent, Kyle Tucker, however, may dissipate."For the past couple weeks, we have heard about the Blue Jays’ interest in Kyle Tucker, with some suggesting that Toronto could sign both Tucker and Bichette," Feinsand wrote. "Now that the Jays have handed out a $210 million deal to Cease, it seems unlikely that there’s room for both Bichette and Tucker."Bichette is probably still the No. 1 priority for Toronto, and given that many in the industry expect Tucker to sign for considerably more than Bichette, it’s possible that Cease’s deal is a sign that Bichette is their preference among the hitters."Bo Bichette - Source: GettyFinishing the regular season with a .311 batting average, 18 home runs and 94 RBIs, Bichette was one of Toronto's most influential players in 2025.
