As free agency opens across Major League Baseball, speculation continues to swirl around former NL MVP Cody Bellinger, including talk that the Los Angeles Dodgers could explore a reunion this offseason.

But early fan reaction in Los Angeles suggests the idea may not be as popular as it is intriguing.

The conversation gained traction after an MLB analyst of Dodgers Nation said that he believes Bellinger “would consider” returning to L.A., noting his positional versatility, the ability to play left field, right field or spell Freddie Freeman at first makes him a fit on paper.

The analyst also pointed out one notable concern with Bellinger’s dramatic home/road split in 2025.

Bellinger produced a 900-plus OPS at Yankee Stadium, where the right-field porch favors left-handed hitters, but posted an OPS just over .700 everywhere else.

He still finished the season with a strong .272 average, 29 home runs and 98 RBIs, but the disparity raised questions about how his production might translate back to Dodger Stadium.

“Look, we all love Belli, but the guy is currently a product of the team he is on. Yankee Stadium suits his game better than Dodger Stadium. Pure and simple.. He’d be foolish to leave there..” a fan wrote.

“Send two prospects to Cleveland and bring Steven Kwan to LA!” another fan said.
“F**k no lol unless it’s a last option on s 1 year deal lol,” one fan commented.
“dont care i want belli back,” a fan wrote.
“Nooo 🫣 too much disappointment associated with his play. Leopards cannot change its spots. He could not handle the spotlight before and it would be a colossal mistake to think anything has changed,” another fan said.

“No. Too inconsistent,” one fan tweeted.

Yankees make intentions clear as GM Brian Cashman signals strong push to retain Cody Bellinger

As the offseason begins to take shape, the New York Yankees made it known that they are very interested in Cody Bellinger.

Speaking during this week’s General Manager Meetings, GM Brian Cashman said the club intends to stay firmly involved in the bidding for the 29-year-old outfielder.

“We’re very interested in bringing him back,” Cashman told reporters during a video call.

The Yankees clearly have a strong preference for Bellinger but the market will dictate how easy that is.

As they move into free agency and initiate early conversations, the Yankees look like they are poised to be aggressive as they stay focused on stabilizing the outfield and trying to keep one of the most productive bats from leaving the Bronx.
