The MLB hosted its very first competitive golf tournament with many active and former players teeing off at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas for the inaugural MLB Open. One of the star players to feature was back-to-back American League Cy Young-winning pitcher Tarik Skubal. In a video posted on MLB's social media accounts, Skubal could be seen finishing a difficult putt. Skubal's golf balls were also monogrammed with his 2024 achievements of winning the Cy Young and the Triple Crown."Make sure we don’t post the footage from the next 3 holes," Skubal joked on his X account along with the video. But it was the Detroit Tigers' pitcher's capri pants that stole the limelight. Fans on social media couldn't get enough of Skubal's short-length pants, which are starting to become a signature for the ace. Here are a few reactions from X:"Buy some longer pants my dude," a fan wrote.Mr FuZzz @lehman218LINK@TarikSkubal Buy some longer pants my dude"Wtf u wearing? Alongside Skubal, Mookie Betts, Ernie Clement, and Will Smith also put their names in the hat at the tourney. Past players featured Jimmy Rollins, John Smoltz, Joe Carter, etc.Tarik Skubal caps off season with second All-MLB First team selectionAfter bagging his second straight American League Cy Young award on Wednesday, Tarik Skubal also made it to the All-MLB First Team as one of the five starting pitchers chosen by fans. He was named alongside AL Cy Young finalist, Garrett Crochet, MLB Wins leader Max Fried, National League Cy Young winner, Paul Skenes, and World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto.Skubal pitched to a 2.21 ERA, only bettered by Skenes, and had a whopping 7.3 strikeout-to-walk ratio, much higher than Crochet's 5.54, the next best. The 28-year-old is heading into free agency at the end of next season and is expected to be offered massive contracts from teams that will be interested. Already, there has been plenty of trade chatter, considering there have been reports that the Tigers' offer of a contract extension is way below what Skubal can get in the free agency market.
