Darvish has undergone a UCL repair surgery on his right elbow that will sideline him for 12-15 months, ruling the Japanese pitcher out for the 2026 season.

The All-Star ace shared the update on Instagram, writing:

“Last Wednesday I had surgery done by Dr. [Keith] Meister to repair my flexor tendon, have an internal brace attached to my UCL. I will be working hard on my rehab to be able to throw a ball comfortably again.”

Fans reacted to the 39-year-old undergoing a major surgery.

"Brutal blow for the Padres’ rotation. That’s a huge hole to fill next season."

"God I wish padres burner didn’t deactivate his account. It’s just L after L for him lately."

Darvish missed three months of action due to an elbow issue last season. The five-time All-Star made 15 starts, posting a 5.38 ERA as the Padres' season ended with a wild card series loss against the Chicago Cubs in October.
