"Brotherly power is unstoppable" - Fans roar as Ronald Acuña Jr. & Luisangel deliver twin HRs in Winter League

Big brother Ronald Acuna Jr. joined Luisangel Acuna in Venezuela for some winter league action. In his second game, he homered for the Tiburones de La Guaira, but his brother took him pound for pound, going yard for the Cardenales de Lara.

Both Acuna brothers went deep into left field and took their teams to victory. Playing against the Leones del Caracas, Acuna hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, his tenth overall in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LBVP). It sparked a rally for the Tiburones, who came back from a 3-0 deficit to win 5-3.

On the same night, Luisangel Acuna, who has had a stellar spell at the plate, gave the Cardanales a lead with a solo homer in the top of the third inning. It was an easy win for his team, who inflicted a 10-0 shutout on the Águilas del Zulia.

Fans were impressed by the brothers' performances. They took to X to heap praise after their twin home runs.

The two brothers have been sharing the NL East rivalry as part of the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves, after Luisangel made his debut for the former in the 2024 season. By the time he arrived to the big leagues, his big brother had already been crowned the MVP of the National League in 2023.

Luisangel Acuna continues hot form at the plate

After a brief injury scare in a game last Friday, when he was hit by a pitch straight on his arm, Luisangel has been a force to be reckoned with in the LBVP. Before the game on Saturday, Acuna had four extra-base hits in his previous three games. Once batting at .208 before the injury, he currently has a .268 pace with three home runs and 13 RBIs with a .950 OPS.

Acuna needed to get into a rhythm after his form dipped in the latter half of the MLB regular season. He was batting at .313 till May 14 before a .153 average in the next 53 at-bats saw him get demoted to the minor leagues. He ended the season with a .234 average with 8 RBIs.
