Blue Jays phenom Trey Yesavage drops to one knee and surprises girlfriend Taylor Frick with a beachside proposal

Trey Yesavage's rise to become the biggest threat in the Blue Jays' pitching rotation was meteoric. Yesavage's girlfriend, Taylor Frick, has been a constant support system for him. Taylor was on the stands from his MLB debut to his postseason games.

On Thursday, Yesavage took his relationship with his girlfriend to the next level. The Blue Jays rookie surprised Taylor with a proposal, dropping to one knee on a beach.

On Friday, Yesavage and his girlfriend announced the news through a combined Instagram post. The cover image of the post showed Taylor's surprising expression when Yesavage proposed.

The Blue Jays rookie lifted his girlfriend on shared a passionate kiss in the second snap of the post, while the final image focused on the engagement ring.

"11/13/25 ~ in this lifetime & the next, it will always be you," Taylor captioned the post.

Taylor Frick met Yesvage while attending East Carolina University. She graduated with a degree in Nutrition Sciences in May. Meanwhile, Yesavage was East Carolina's standout arm, headlining 2024 with an 11-1 record, 2.02 ERA, 145 strikeouts, and the AAC pitching triple crown.

In 2023, Yesvage posted a 7-1 record with a 2.61 ERA and 105 strikeouts. As a freshman in 2022, he made 34 bullpen appearances with a 4.50 ERA and two saves before earning All-Valley honors in summer ball with a 1.80 ERA.

Trey Yesavage, selected in the first round of the 2024 MLB draft by the Blue Jays, began his 2025 season with the Single-A Dunedin Blue Jays. It didn't take much longer for Yesavage to move up in the pecking order as he earned a spot in the Blue Jays' 40-man roster on September 15.

Yesavage impressed on his MLB debut, against the Tampa Bay Rays, striking out nine sluggers in five innings. He started two more games in the regular season before playing seven games in the postseason.

Following the Blue Jays' heartbreaking loss to the Dodgers in the World Series, Yesavage's then-girlfriend, now-fiancée, penned a heartwarming tribute to him on Instagram.

"Words can’t describe how much I love you. You have been right by my side every second of this journey Taylor. You continue to impress me every single day with the human being you are. None of my success would happen without you there by my side. I love you beyond the moon and stars honey❤️❤️❤️," Yesavage wrote in the comments.

Taylor's Instagram post featured just two snaps. In the cover image, she passionately embraced Yesvage. The second image showed the pitcher receiving applause from the Blue Jays' dugout.
