"I don't think this is a foregone conclusion that he goes back to the Yankees" - insider has his say on Cody Bellinger's free agency

As Cody Bellinger opted out of his contract to enter free agency once the season concluded, the Yankees have expressed their desire to re-sign the outfielder.

According to insider Mark Feinsand, however, the Bronx Bombers will have to fend off stiff competition from a few other franchises if they are to succeed in their pursuit.

"The Yankees want Bellinger back," Feinsand said on Tuesday's episode of 'MLB Tonight'. "You look at what he did at Yankee Stadium this year, and he just owns that ballpark. It was perfect for his swing. He opted out with the idea of trying to finally secure that long-term contract that has evaded him the last couple of times in free agency.

"There's going to be competition for him, though. The Mets are going to be interested in him, specially after the trade they just made, there's now an opening in the outfield where Brandon Nimmo was. The Dodgers have been a team that's been talked about. I don't think this is a foregone conclusion that he goes back to the Yankees, but they're certainly going to give it a try to bring him back."
