MLB analyst Jolly Olive proposed an alternative option for the New York Yankees in a way that can help the franchise move on from Anthony Volpe and bring a star who could play all over the diamond. The name suggested by Olive was Ha-Seong Kim, who is currently a free agent after declining the mutual option in his contract with the Atlanta Braves.Volpe had a disastrous season both at the plate and in the field. The shortstop was often called out for his several defensive mishaps throughout the season, and Olivia believes that at this point, both parties need a "change of scenery.""They move, and they go get Ha-Seong Kim, who is so good with the glove at all three infield positions, so you can move him around if you want to," Olive said. "They shore up some defense. I still think he can hit a little bit. I know he didn't hit a lot last year, but he also started the year late, was hurt, and he had some good years in San Diego."I think you get him for good value as well. I think he's very much a guy that Brian Cashman would sign. I get him to the Yankees on a two-year deal."MLB fans also chimed in on this reaction by Olive. They support that the Yankees need to move on from Volpe."Volpe needs to go. We have seen what he is," one fan wrote."This is a good idea for the Yankees if they have that kind of money sitting around. Right handed hitter who could potentially leadoff with a 12.3 BB% in 2024. Would shift Grisham to another spot in the lineup as well. They could also use him at 2nd if Chisholm Jr. walks after next season," one fan added."Moving on from Volpe is long overdue, but the pivot has to be towards trading for Tatis with our prospects. Tatis could go back to his first position at SS and grow with the next set of Yankees since he is only 26," another fan reacted."huge korean market here in NY that are yankee fans and/or would become yankee fans … win win," one fan noted.Meanwhile, one fan doubts if it's going to happen:"Not in a million years lmao.""Boone and Cashman will never fire their son. Don't you know that he's "f**king elite"?" one fan said. Will shoulder surgery delay Anthony Volpe's return? After a disappointing 2025 season, Anthony Volpe underwent surgery on his left shoulder to repair a partially torn labrum. The shortstop has been carrying the injury since early May after Volpe fell on the ground while making a defensive play. He heard a noise of a "pop" but continued to play through injury with the help of cortisone injections at two separate points (mid-season and again in September).Yankees manager Aaron Boone doubts if Volpe will be able to return in time for the start of the season. His current timelines have him start hitting by mid-February; however, his athleticism will be limited for at least six months. Thus, it's most likely that Volpe won't be on the active roster to begin the 2026 season.
