5 key moves the Phillies must consider at the 2024 MLB Winter Meetings ft. Signing Juan Soto

The Philadelphia Phillies are in an interesting spot as clubs prepare for the MLB Winter Meetings. Trade rumors surrounding the team have been swirling and that has only intensified with each passing week.

Outside of trade rumors, they have some free agents they are keeping their eye on. They are on both Juan Soto and Alex Bregman's radar while keeping tabs on some lower-end free agents.

Philadelphia could do a lot over the next few days. Here are some things they must consider as all 30 clubs are set to meet in Dallas next week.

5) Sign Roki Sasaki

Roki Sasaki is on plenty of teams' radars. The Japanese ace was recently posted and is a free agent for anyone to sign. He would make sense with the Phillies as they would be a contender and he could be set in the middle of that rotation.

4) Trade for Garrett Crochet

The Chicago White Sox seem set on getting some value for Garrett Crochet as they rebuild. While pitching is not at the forefront for this team, they need all the help they can get.

Just look at what the Los Angeles Dodgers' projected rotation looks like for 2025. They will have something similar to an All-Star Game rotation next season after acquiring Blake Snell.

3) Trade Alec Bohm

Alec Bohm is a player that has been rumored to be on the move nearly all off-season. He would be somebody that would bring back some good value and could help the club move forward.

2) Sign Alex Bregman

Alex Bregman is one of the top free agents on the open market. The Phillies have already expressed their interest in the slugger, and he would be an excellent fit in that lineup.

This past season with the Houston astros, he hit .260/.315/.453 with 26 home runs and 75 runs batted in. Bregman would be the extra pop the club has been searching for.

It goes without saying that the Phillies must consider reaching a deal with Juan Soto. He is the top talent among free agents and would be an excellent fit alongside Bryce Harper at the top of the order.
