The year 2025 marked a phenomenal year for the upstart wrestling company, AEW. The Jacksonville-based promotion hosted highly spectacular shows and pay-per-views, and it saw a drastic shift in the landscape of All Elite Wrestling.

In recent memory, the storyline programming featured a major betrayal at Full Gear 2025. In the main event of the show, featuring a Steel Cage match between Samoa Joe and Hangman Adam Page for the AEW World Championship, HOOK turned heel and attacked The Hangman by taking him down with the title. In doing so, Joe pinned him and became the new champion, re-aligning himself with The Opps in a shocking betrayal.

With HOOK going rogue in a massive shocker, here are four other betrayals that can happen in AEW before 2025 comes to an end.

#4. Megan Bayne betrays Penelope Ford

Megan Bayne had a good partnership going with Penelope Ford as they entered the tournament to crown the first-ever AEW Women's World Tag Team Championships. After winning the first round match, Ford injured her arm and was ruled out of action indefinitely. This led to Marina Shafir replacing her and joining forces with The Megasaurus. An interesting turn could see this new alliance become successful and possibly win the brand-new tag titles. With her newfound success with The Problem, Megan Bayne could potentially dump the extra baggage and end her association with Ford, putting her on the sidelines for good.

#3. Timeless Love Bombs explode

Following their respective losses at the AEW WrestleDream 2025 pay-per-view, the dejected and defeated Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa came together again and officially cemented themselves as a tag team, The Timeless Love Bombs. The duo is currently a part of the ongoing tournament to determine the inaugural AEW Women's World Tag Team Champions. However, they could find themselves eliminated from the tournament, possibly due to Toni Storm's miscalculations. This could see Mina Shirakawa shockingly betray her before the year ends.

#2. Swerve Strickland turns heel and betrays Hangman Adam Page

Swerve Strickland made a thunderous return at the end of the Full Gear 2025 pay-per-view after being out of action due to a torn meniscus. He came to the aid of Hangman Adam Page following his match against Samoa Joe. However, the upcoming weeks might see a shocking turn where Strickland turns to the dark side and leaves The Hangman to deal with The Opps himself. It could possibly be an easy pick for him to let The Opps dismantle him, so that he could have a clear path to challenge Joe for the AEW World Championship.

#1. The Death Riders betray their leader Jon Moxley

Jon Moxley has been suffering a string of major and embarrassing losses over the last few months. From being defeated in an 'I Quit match' at the hands of Darby Allin to letting The Death Riders down in the Blood and Guts showdown, Moxley has not been himself lately. This could push his faction to the limit, and they would choose to align together to throw Moxley out of the group and usher in a new leadership before this year ends.
