This year's edition of the Continental Classic tournament started on the November 26 episode of AEW Dynamite. One of the most exciting matches fans had been eagerly awaiting was the Gold League contest between Darby Allin and Kevin Knight. As expected, the bout was a visual spectacle, with both stars giving their all to win. However, what was unexpected was the outcome, where the Upstart defeated the Daredevil, marking the biggest singles win of his career in the Jacksonville-based promotion. Shortly after the match, it was confirmed that Allin had suffered an undisclosed injury, which led to his hospitalization. The injury naturally cast doubt on his future in the Continental Classic tournament. Now, a new report from Wrestling Observer Radio has confirmed that Daredevil's injury is legitimate, and his tournament future is in jeopardy.

According to Bryan Alvarez, the coast-to-coast dropkick Knight performed during their match was what potentially injured Allin, who had to be hospitalized for a few days. The wrestling analyst also noted that while Allin has been discharged and cleared to travel, his future in the Continental Classic might be determined at the upcoming Collision.
