A former WWE personality who had been signed with AEW has now confirmed his departure from the Tony Khan-led promotion. The veteran in question, Tony Chimel, appears to have wrapped up his two-year stint in All Elite Wrestling.
The Texas native broke into the world of pro wrestling during his long-running tenure in WWE, where he was primarily featured as a ring announcer, notably on Friday Night SmackDown. His run saw him engage in on-screen interactions and programs with Kurt Angle, Mr. Kennedy, and The Boogeyman, not to mention his notorious introduction of Adam Copeland (fka Edge), which fans recall to this day.
In 2023, three years after being let go by the Stamford-based promotion, Chimel joined AEW as a producer. The 64-year-old veteran, during his recent appearance on the All Axxess podcast, confirmed, however, that he has parted ways with All Elite Wrestling. Chimel discussed how AEW, as a growing entity, operates differently from WWE and expressed gratitude for his stint in the company, stating:
"I always had a good time there. I mean they’re a little smaller operation and you know, run things a little differently. But the people there are nice. I mean they work you know, I knew a lot of WWE people there that are there now and stuff like that. And it was a nice little run that I had there and very grateful for the time I had there and you know, they do their thing the way they want to do their thing.” [H/T - ITR Wrestling]
